***A Sighted recurve is allowed but can only be shot in a compound class, they are not allowed in the Recurve or Traditional classes***
B: No alcoholic beverages or controlled substances may be carried or consumed on tournament grounds. If a person demonstrates signs of intoxication, that person will be asked to leave the premises immediately.

SHOOTING RULES:
A: NELAA adheres to a maximum arrow speed of 280 fps +3% (for stakes at 45 yrd max and up maximum arrow speed of 290 fps +3%). Each club reserves the right to chronograph a shooter. Each competitor understands and agrees that they may be required to shoot through a designated on-site chronograph. **BOWS MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHRONOGRAPH AT ANY TIME** Any arrow chronographed that exceeds the maximum speed will result in disqualification for that tournament.
B: RECOMMENDED 3 shooters to a group. Each group shall have no more than 5 shooters to a group.
C: Each shooter must be touching the appropriate shooting stake for their class with some part of their body during the shot. A shooter will receive a warning from their group for the first offense. The penalty for the second offense is a deduction of 5 points from the target score (but no less than a 0). Each subsequent offense will result in a target score of zero.
D: After you set your sights and draw your bow, you cannot reset your sights after a letdown. Penalty: Score of zero for that target.
E: For safety purposes and to ensure a timely competition, no archer will go behind a target to look for a lost arrow. Archers may go behind a target to retrieve an arrow that is visible by the group from the target.
You may go back and look for lost arrows after the tournament has ended.
F: A "controlled letdown" must be verbally announced prior to the letdown, with the word "letdown" or "down" spoken loudly enough to be audible, and must be acknowledged by the group. If in the process of letting down the arrow is dropped it may be picked up and shot.
G: Exchanging yardage information with shooters in your group, or other groups is strictly prohibited.
H: Use of rangefinders is prohibited. All distances will be judged by the naked eye. No equipment, including but not limited to sights, binoculars, or spotting scopes will be used in a manner inconsistent with this prohibition. The use of "gaping techniques" which uses any of the shooter's equipment or body parts is prohibited in determining yardage. Target cards are permitted.
I: Binoculars and/or spotting scopes will be allowed for determining shot placement.
J: Lasers, mirrors, etc. are prohibited.
K: Bowhunter class will be restricted to a 12" or shorter stabilizer. Backbars are allowed but cannot exceed bow string when bow is at rest. May shoot moveable but it MUST be a Hunting Sight, screw-in or glued-in tips, with NO magnifications. No Rule on Arrow Diameter

L: "SHOOT FOR FUN"
To shoot course, shooter must pay class fee, score cards MUST BE turned in to count towards Shooter of the Year.
M: PRACTICE SHOTS: Please keep all practice, warm up, and adjustments shots to the Practice Bags, DO NOT use the 3D targets for "practice". When on the range each 3D target is limited to one arrow per shooter.
SHOOTING TIMES:
A: A shooter must be signed in at the club he is shooting by 1:30 pm. Each 20 target tournament
(plus bonus, EXCLUDING PRO CLASS-NO BONUS) will be completed by 4:00 pm.
B: The first shooter of the group will be allowed 2 minutes to shoot his/her arrow. Each remaining member of the group will be allowed 1 minute to shoot.
C: Each group will be allowed 4 minutes to score the target, pull arrows, and reach the next stake at which point the procedure restarts.
D: The following are the only conditions under which a shooter may leave the range and return to receive credit for the day's competition:
1: The shooter will be allocated additional time to complete any targets in which
the shooting lane was missed in the presence of a tournament official, who
will be responsible for scoring and completing the shooter's scorecard.
2: Equipment failure need not be visible, but must be reported to a tournament
official. If the equipment failure occurs during the act of shooting, the arrow
will be scored as shot. The shooter will have until 5:30 pm to complete the
course.
SCORING RULES:
* All shooters must be signed in by 1:30 pm to shoot the course.*
* All 3D tournaments consist of 20 targets, plus a given bonus target, at unknown distances. ASA scoring of 5,8,10, and 12 rings will be used.

C: Cards must be turned in to obtain credit for shooting the club. This is important when qualifying for the NELAA Shooter of the Year.
D: All arrows must remain in the target until all arrows are scored. The arrow shaft must touch the line to be scored for the higher value. The status of any questionable arrows must be determined before drawing any arrow from the target and such arrows may not be touched until a judgment has been made. Unless specified otherwise, the front kill zone will be shot. LOWER 12-ring to be scored, UPPER 12-ring only counts if target specifies "Upper 12". 14 ring only counts on the Bonus Target.

G: Any arrow embedded in the nock of another arrow (robin hooded) will be scored the same as the arrow it struck.
H: If an arrow rebounds off another arrow and does not proceed toward the target, it will be scored the same as the arrow it struck, provided the damage can be identified by the group.
I: In the case of a tie, the tie will be broken by the following in this order:
A: Shoot-off if both shooters are present and daylight/weather permits
B: If one of the shooters is not present, the tie will be broken by number of 12's, then 10's, then 8's, then 5's.
C: If the score is still tied, the first person to drop points (drop points include 12's) will take second place.
J: Each target has two (2) 12-rings™. At each target the lower 12-ring will be in play initially for all shooters. At each individual target a shooter may elect to have the upper 12-ring scored by announcing their intention to shoot for it. Upon announcing their election to shoot the upper 12-ring the scorekeepers will acknowledge and note this election, and the lower 12-ring will no longer be in play to be scored for that shooter on that individual target only.
